Step-by-step checklist to lock your digital cards and file reports at local police boxes.

Step 1: Immediate Financial Lock

Do not wait to file reports before securing your money. Open your mobile banking applications immediately:

Freeze all credit card, debit card, and prepaid digital currency profiles (such as Apple Pay Suica or local mobile wallets) to block unauthorized charges.

Step 2: Koban / Transit Protocol

If you lost your wallet on public transit (train/bus) or a city street, head directly to the nearest Koban (police box) or station master office.

The Return System

File a formal Lost Property Report (Ishitsubutsu-todoke) at the Koban.

High Return Probability:

When your wallet is turned in, police will match it to your description and contact your hotel or embassy to coordinate pick-up.
